Programme

Kapraluv mlyn offers environmental programmes 3 to 5 days long and one-day field trips. We can however tailor a programme to the need of each customer. Activities packs are being developed for self-service educational programmes of the groups coming.

 

Field Ecology

5 day programme leads to understanding of the key ecological concepts through exploration of many habitats around Kapraluv mlyn and their inhabitants. Students learn how to conduct a scientific field research project that can be further presented. Accomplishing challenging goals in small teams is the core method of this course.

Technology for the 21st Century

5 day programme exploits environmental-friendly technologies installed at Kapraluv mlyn. Students learn physical principles by conducting their own research and experiments. They work in small teams designing their own environmental-frienly house. They are introduced to concept of sustainable development and diverse ethical viewpoints on responsible management of natural resources.

 

Eco-School

3 day programme designed for schools enrolled in the Eco-school scheme. Students get first-hand inspiration for turning their school into environmentally-friendly one. They also learn how to plan, implement and evaluate their own projects. The programme is suitable for twinning schools within the Eco-school scheme.

 

Wings and Roots - people and landscape through the ages

5 day programme explores history of man-nature relationships. Students learn how to read from the landscape and touch fabulous archeological sites with their hands (Homo erectus dwelling, magdalenien hunters cave settlement, bronze and iron-age fortifications, middle-age villages). Kapraluv mlyn is only 6 miles from the Austerlitz battlefield and about 250 soldiers lost their lifes within the property in one of the last battles of WW2. The story of the Kapral family illustrates the turmoils Central Europe went through in 20th century (the centre is named after the family and the story was inspired a book). The history is interpreted right in the places where it happened.
