The structure of the former mill was bought by the Kaprál family before WW2. Growing communist power forced the family to emigration and the mill was confiscated. Practically no investments or major repairs took place during the communist period.
The family got it back in 1992 in ruined condition and leased it to scouts for free. In 2007 it was given to scouts and this legal step opened way to reconstruction. In 2008 the project of turning the mill to environmental education centre was launched and the first major reconstruction from 1939 started in June 2011.
Kapraluv mlyn location is unique so its history and misson. The reconstruction is turning former mill into model environmental-friendly building: low-energy construction standard, extensive high-tech solar panels, heat pump, recuperation of wastewater and air. Data collection through hundreds of sensors and visualisation enable first-hand experience with technologies behind the green performance.
The project costs 2,9 mil € out of which will EU cover 90%. Creation of programmes shall cost 40 000 €. Another 200 000 € would enable ideal start of operation. Minimum amount scouts, District Brno, need to fundraise to enable the reconstruction is 300 000 €. Ideal amount is 500 000 €.
200 000 € have been fundraised to May 2012. Since successful fundraising is corner stone of the project we appreciate any help. Contact the project manager to choose the option that suits you best.
